Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before we begin working together.
What will it cost?
The fee is £90 per session, paid in advance via bank transfer or credit card (via Stripe). To keep appointments open I request payment 24 hours before a session.
How long is a session?
The first session, 60 to 90 minutes long, is dedicated to finding out about you as an individual, your experiences and your therapeutic goals. This is so I can create a bespoke plan for your treatment. Subsequent sessions are typically between 60 and 75 minutes long. After one or two sessions we can get to work to create change.
How do I work?
I work 1:1 in a comfortable, quiet therapy room at home in Ridgewood, Uckfield. There is easy parking nearby. I also work over Zoom, which offers greater scheduling flexibility and is proven to be just as effective for hypnotherapy as meeting in person.
What will be expected of me?
Regular attendance is key. This is generally weekly, sometimes fortnightly.
I create a 10-minute audio recording using WhatsApp for you to use daily for a period to instigate and support you in your development. It is one of the most important tools I use to create change. I generally do this after the second session and send it to you.
Most change happens for clients between sessions and I may set tasks for you, give you techniques to practice for consolidation or provide short audio recordings for you to listen to. If we both commit to showing up and working together, success is entirely possible.
How many sessions will I need?
Rate of progress is individual. Generally, 3 to 6 sessions are required for most issues. You may need as little as 2 to 3 sessions. Therapy can also be longer term if needed.
What can I not work with?
Unfortunately, hypnotherapy is not suitable for:
- Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, Personality Disorders, Major Depressive Illness or Endogenous Depression
- Epilepsy (contra-indicated)
- I am not trained to work with Drug Addiction
- I do not work with children under 12
When can I not work with you?
I cannot work with you if you are currently engaged in another therapy because approaches may conflict.
Testimonials
“Marja is an excellent therapist. She is caring and competent and quietly facilitates growth rather than dictating it. If you’re looking for someone to help you to move through stuck areas or to help you to change emotions or behaviours that just keep getting in the way, I recommend Marja wholeheartedly!”
“I had a phobia about a particular piece of large machinery. It had been with me for many decades and although never serious, it was always there. After a couple of sessions with Marja, it had effectively gone. It is no longer a problem, fairly impressive!”
